.......................................................................................................................

Peppermint T had a residency at Hotel Hollywood in Sydney back between 2002 to 2007.

Many of Sydney's and visiting international artists would jam with the band often creating a situation where the band would be spilling out of the small bar almost onto the street. Great musicians would challenge each other in the friendly spirit of jazz, to impress and annihilate one another with flights of improvisation. John Maddox would invariably win these contests even going so far as to continue playing the double bass hoisted behind and above his head. The combination of John with the inimitable Anthony Howe made the rhythm section as swinging, energetic and funky as any, I would dare say, in the Australian music scene.

The band played at festivals and other gigs besides. We also became the band that was known as Glass with vocalist Ilan Kidron.

Peppermint T was a time in Sydney where there was lots going on and there was a definite resurgence in the interest in the early forms of jazz. This CD was recorded at Zen studios in an afternoon session sometime early 2003. It was mixed on the spot by the engineer.
