Recorded in 2007, Sydney based band The Straight Back Fellows enjoyed a run of gigs in the early 21st century playing original music, Django Reinhardt tunes, jazz, blues, latin, Indian fusion and gypsy style music.

This album features the founding members Rob Shannon on percussion and guitar and Nigel Date on guitar with long time band mates John Maddox on bass and Tim Bradley on drums and percussion.

These tunes are just some of a vast repertoire the band created back then.

All of these tunes are original pieces of music. Some written in collaboration or alone but with the other band members foremost in the thoughts of the creator.

The tracks were recorded in Zen Studios in Sydney and engineered by Geoff Lee.

The tracks were mixed by Rob Shannon and Nigel Date. Mastering has been done by Nigel Date.

Rob is playing an Australian made, unique style 'f-hole' guitar made by luthier John Lydie. He is also playing some percussion including the Tabla.

Nigel is playing a Selmer (Django) style guitar made for him by Sydney luthier Piers Crocker. On some tracks he is also playing a 1951175 Gibson electric guitar.

John Maddox is playing an Ashton bass which he's ripped the frets out to turn it into an acoustic fretless instrument.

Tim is playing a mixture of Gretsch & Tama drums. He also has a treasure chest of unusual percussion implements from all corners of the globe.

The Straight Back Fellows is back in 2019 with original member and virtuoso musician Dimitri Vouros on sax and clarinet. The band is working again and new material is being composed. Look out for them!!
